Matrix Search: Virtual Open Houses & Tours

As we announced last week, virtual open houses are now available in the MLSListings Listing Management application.

To supplement this capability, we’ve made it easy to search in Matrix for both virtual open houses and virtual tours.

Matrix Search for Virtual Open Houses

To facilitate searching in Matrix for virtual open houses, we updated the Open House search to include “Open House Type”, which includes an option for “Virtual.

We also updated the Open House Single Line to show the URL, and updated the OpenHouseFull, Client OH Full and Client Single Line as well.

For the regular Matrix search, we added a search control called “Open House Type”, which can be found by going to Add/Remote under “Additional Fields,” searching for “Open House Type,” and adding it as a customized field.

Virtual Tour Search in Matrix

We also made it easier in Matrix to identify properties with a virtual tour by adding a new Matrix search display called “Agent 1 Line W/Virtual Tours.”

The following video explains how this new feature works:

What is the Difference Between a Virtual Open House and a Virtual Tour?

A virtual tour can be a set of pictures or videos of a subject property. Typically, there is background music and sometimes the agent will speak briefly during the presentation. It is not a real-time event being presented by a person.

A virtual open house is a live, guided tour of and from the subject property, presented by a person. It can be conducted through web conference tools such as Facebook Live, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, YouTube Live, GoToMeeting, or GoToWebinar, just to name a few, and can be captured through a variety of camera options.

If you record the virtual open house for later use, when you post it for on-demand viewing it then becomes a virtual tour.

As a reminder, MLSListings recently introduced a number of virtual tour enhancements for agents and consumers, which you can review by reading this article.
